Discover the picturesque hilltop village of Afionas, perched on the northern headland, accessible via a steep walk or car. This historic and charming village, located 2 kilometres from Ag. As you explore Afionas, you’ll be treated to stunning vistas of the Ionian Sea, with the Diapondia islands Mathraki, Othoni, and Erikousa, as well as Gravia island, captivating your gaze. 

From Afionas, embark on a scenic hike leading you down to Porto Timoni. This hike is one of the village’s most popular highlights. The famous double beach of Porto Timoni awaits below Afionas, consisting of two beaches separated by a narrow strip of land. The left side is called Limni, while the right side is known as Porto Timoni. As you descend to Porto Timoni, you’ll be mesmerized by the breathtaking view of Agios Georgios bay on the right and the untamed vegetation on the left. The ruins of medieval fortifications, which once safeguarded the area from pirates and corsairs, add a touch of history to the landscape. Following the same path, you’ll arrive at Cape “Akra Arilla,” where the chapel “Agios Stylianos” is nestled within a cave. The tip of the peninsula, known as the “Head of Mourgis,” resembles the shape of a dog’s head.
To access Porto Timoni, you can take the narrow paths descending from the village of Afionas or reach it by sea from the bay of Agios Georgios. The hike down is relatively easy but includes a steep trail with large rocks, taking approximately 20-30 minutes. It’s important to note that there are no facilities available at the beach.

Paleokastritsa, situated on the northwest coast of Corfu, Greece, around 13 kilometres from Agios Georgios Pagon is an area of astounding beauty. Perched on a rocky peninsula, it boasts a breathtaking landscape adorned with clear blue-turquoise bays, coves, olive tree forests, and lush green hillsides. The monastery museum houses a collection of icons, Greek Orthodox ritual items, and fascinating artifacts, including a whale skeleton.
